The Queen of Wine Art: France has its Supremacy!
There is no doubt in the
Europe being the oldest and finest wine making area in the
world, however, Romans introduced the art of wine making in the
various countries they conquered. The Europeans only mastered
the idea to perfection. It is another fact that the Italy makes
more amount of wine than any other country and when it comes to
quality, the greatest red wines are produced in
France.
Wine making is called as wine
art in France. Since French believe that wine making is more of
an art than just a science, they consider that those who make
great wines are like artists who create masterpieces with
palettes and oils. Regardless of the fact that there are
various factors that contribute to the end result, every maker
is able to add their own specified method that would add up to
a personal touch in making each of their wines unique. That is
why the wines made in France are produced for quality rather
than quantity.
Coming to the various kinds of
wines, France manufactures a large variety. However, the
characteristics of each of the wine produced are determined by
the type of the climate, soil, the variety of grape and the
date they were picked. The quality of the wine also depends
greatly on the type of fermentation vessel that is used and the
time period for which the wine is allowed to ferment. The taste
of the wine also varies with a variation in the storage of the
wine.
There are several other
factors that determine the difference among various wines. For
instance, if the wine is produced in one area and the grapes
produced in some other corner of the country, the wine produced
there is bound to be different in taste. These factors are
called as 'terroir' by the French.
Some of the greatest varieties
of French wines include the reds of Burgundy and Bordeaux, Cote
De Rhone, November Nouveaux rush and the Rhone valley. Other
than these red wines, France also produces some of the finest
white wines like the great whites of Alsace and Loire. Sancerre
is probably the most famous wine produce in France.
These are just some of the
things that make France the best wine producer in the world. No
doubt it is called the queen of wine
art.
